Time for holiday cheer, food and celebration, and Best of '08 Lists.

I recently received my end of the year SPIN Magazine Best of 2008 issue, and it inspired me to do a little list making of my own. This is not necessarily the best stuff that came out this year, but these are the movies, songs, and albums that I liked most and got the most play on my computer/iPod/etc. I stuck to stuff that came out this year, with the only exceptions being albums that were re-released on new labels, or singles that were released this year, but came from previous albums. Fuck You, Penguin

I recently saw this on EVERYTHINGYOULOVETOHATE and I had to take a closer look. I am glad I did because the Fuck You, Penguin blog is hilarious. Some guy is basically taking random animals and shitting on them, figuratively, of course. I personally liked the Prairie Dog post. I don't know why he does it but I just bookmarked the blog. Check it.

"Someone Get This Fat Fuck A Carrot

Hey Prairie dog, I didn't realize donuts were native to the grasslands of North America! You're so fat, you make a capybara look like an African pygmy mouse!

Seriously, though, Prairie dog. You are really fat. This makes it very difficult for me, because the fact that your feet aren't touching the ground and your arms are kind of hanging down on your fat folds is fucking cute as shit. Am I supposed to feel bad for you? Is this what you wanted, Prairie dog? Damn you and your scheming ways." See the full post...

Tyga: Sayin This

Tyga made his initial jump into the mainstream consciousness with "Coconut Juice" which caught on due to the infectious hook, his super-swag style, and his unique voice. His ablum No Introduction which was released in June of this year was a very nice album with him straying slightly from the mainstream catchiness that "Coconut Juice" introduced. From that point we haven't really heard much from him on that level although he has been sparatically releasing songs on the internet. He is featured with Lil Wayne on "Exqwisite" which I dropped on the Fresh Like Our Blog Mixtape Vol. 1. "Fly Nigga" and "Sayin This" are also two of my favorites from him. Recently Tyga dropped a little in studio video of him rapping "Sayin This" and here it is:

The Official: Fresh Like Our Blog Vol. 1 Mixtape

Yea, thats right The Cookie Jar has finally decided to drop their own mixtape.
Click The Pic For Download
What's On It? Well i'm glad you asked. One of my main priorities when posting about these particular topics on the Cookie Jar is to give the readers an expansive look at music in general; more specifically quality music. I hope that on this mixtape I held true to that original purpose. I put my full support behind this mixtape. I believe that each and every one of the artists that are featured on it, with the exception of Cam'Ron, are true musicians that are creating art through their style, flow, lyricism, instrumentals, production and, of course, that x factor. In other words, listen to the tape, tell me what you think and, if you like any of the artists, download their individual mixtapes/albums.

Charles Hamilton: Brooklyn Girls Video x The Pink Lavalamp

The recent "beef" between Charles Hamilton and Interscope label-mate Soulja has spurred huge hype for Hamilton. Many view their feud as commercial, with the purpose of selling more records. Hamilton recently debuted his last enstallment on The Hamiltonization Process, The Pink Lavalamp on Thisis50.com although it was originally slated for OnSmash.com (blogsite) thus placing a tremendous strain on his ties with the inumerable blog sites that played an integral part in his success as of yet. These viewpoints are obviously opinions and should be taken as such. Here is a full artlicle about this topic: HERE. On a lighter note, check out the new "Brooklyn Girls" video and Download The Pink Lavalamp. Famous porn-star and inspiration for the "Lacey Duvalle" track off Its Charles Hamilton Mixtape(my favorite CH Tape so far), Lacey Duvalle makes a cameo in the video at 3:24 (she is rocking a mad five head...lol). MTV2 has picked this video up so you may see it there as well.

BONUS TRACK: Charles Hamilton "Dummy"(Soulja Boy diss)
"I'm you last year with talent."
EDIT: I guess that track was the "warning," here's the actual "diss," Word? Aight!
(courtesy of 2dopeboyz)
-Bernie

EDIT: I was just stating that on the record he disses Soulja, not that it was the
"OFFICIAL"
Soulja Boy diss record. Rappers smash on other rappers all the time. That doesn't necessarily make those tracks "diss records". It seemed as though you were insinuating that my post wasnt a diss and yours was. Just setting things straight. Anyways apparently Soulja Boy responded to this feud by releasing an older video of himself playing gears of war and attempting to spit some hard lyrics. This attempt ended up in the same Soulja Boy realm; talking about how much money he has. Although he did end up talking about the same stuff and this video is old, he did have a few moments. It may have been the dope beat, or maybe not....Here is the video and i swear to god that i will not post on this stupid "labelmate" feud:

Nike Kobe IV

I was over on ESPN.com, when I spotted this article. Apparently Kobe Bryant is an avid soccer fan, and thought that if they can play in low tops, then so could he. So he asked Nike to make his next shoe, the Kobe IV, a low top. Check them out:
From ESPN:
"the Kobe IV is outfitted with Nike's Flywire, a performance architecture that uses Vectran, a thin and strong nylon fiber, to support the foot in the upper part of the shoe. The shoe also features LunarLite foam in the forefoot, a cushioning substance that was created in concert with NASA engineers and is used in the seats of space shuttles. Yes, this is rocket science."
The shoes weigh about 20% less than the average Nike basketball shoe, translating into more energy on the court. Kobe is not the first player to don low tops on the hardwood, but this is probably the biggest attempt to market a high performance, low top basketball shoe to the general public, and I'm sure it doesn't hurt that on of the biggest names in the game has signed off on it. The idea of fashionable basketball shoes is basically out the door, and Nike wants to change that. They hope that, since the shoes are low tops, they "will have greater crossover appeal outside of basketball." So are these the new Jordans? I guess we'll have to wait and see. Kobe is set to debut them on-court December 19 against Miami, but you can't get them in stores until February...for a cool $120. See the full post...

The Hundreds x Disney

The Hundreds have recently collaborated with Disney brand, more specifically the Lost Boys aka Peter Pan's crew. I have to say that this collaboration is a long time coming but totally worth it. The New Eras are so def. The caps correlate with Pan and Hook. You can probably figure out which one is which. Both caps are made of felt and have the Disney version of the Hundreds on the back. The Pan cap is sporting his patented feather in 3D while the Hook cap has the infamous skull and crossbones, also in 3D. There will only be 100 of each hat available for sale. The tees are going to drop tomorrow at The Hundreds LA and SF. They feature updated versions of the Lost Boys (2 colorways per Lost Boy: 200 available for sale per tee) and Tinkerbell (Tens brand, 100 of each colorway, 2 colorways). Nib's fixed gear is tight, loving those black mags. Check the bottom of this post for more information on how you can get your hands on this stuff.

This Entire Post Is A Black Joke

When Barack Obama hops into his presidential limousine after his inauguration on January 20, it might be this brand new rolling fortress that’s part car, part truck. General Motors might be about to financially tank, but it’s still putting the finishing touches on this real-world tank that’ll soon be shiny and bear the presidential seal.

Most of the specs of this car are top secret, but a few tantalizing details are floating around, such as the five-inch-thick windows that are about half as transparent as regular glass and can stop projectiles from assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades and high explosives. It’s also said to be built of a combination of blast-proof ceramics and exotic metals, and certainly won’t have a convertible top or sunroof.

While GM’s trying to make it look like a Cadillac DTS, it’s based on the company’s line of heavy-duty 2500 trucks. For a fast getaway, it must have a giant engine under the hood. Because the presidential motorcade typically uses up to six decoy vehicles, there must be a mini-fleet of these behemoths on their way to the White House before too long.

Love the Beast

Eric Bana is a quality actor, so when I checked to see if he has any movies coming up I saw that he's actually directing a documentary type thing called "Love the Beast". It's about his car, a Ford XB Falcon Coupe. The trailer looks pretty interesting, and Bana has a great voice for narration. I was surprised to see Dr. Phil in there though.... that guy definitely finds time to do some random stuff in between his worthless tv shows.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, no, the XB Falcon is not my favorite car....

Dr. Dre is doin' work.

I gotta start off with Dre's headphones, Beats by Dr. Dre. You may have seen them around...these headphones are definitely off the hook. They're manufactured by Monster Cable, a major manufacturer of electronics cables. They've been called the Bentley of headphones, and with a price tag of $349.95, you would hope they live up to that. They've been getting some advertising from artists being seen with them (and extensive use in our local Apple store), so they must be doing something right. You can get them from the online store at their site here. All you aspiring DJ's out there need to hook up a pair of these. Next, I hear Dr. Dre's long awaited, highly anticipated album Detox is supposed to drop real soon, but we'll see about that (maybe he's feeling the pressure after Guns N' Roses finally dropped Chinese Democracy). Also, he recently signed a deal with Drinks Americas Holdings Ltd. to release "Aftermath Cognac and a line of 80-proof flavored and unflavored sparkling vodkas" to coincide with the release of Detox (I know, slight contradiction). Shwayze Mixtape: Rich Girls

[Click for download, courtesy of illroots.com]
Shwayze has decided to jump into the mixtape game with his first mixtape release, Rich Girls. This actually dropped about a week ago, but definitely worth checkin out. Some tracks to listen for are "What Kind Of Car Do You Drive?" (on which he collabs with Dirt Nasty and Andre Legacy, who, along with Mickey Avalon, make up the Dyslexic Speedreaders), and my two favorites, "What Am I Doing Here?" and "Boomerang" (on which he samples Santogold's "L.E.S. Artistes" and Tegan and Sara's "Walking With A Ghost," respectively). See the full post...

Flyer than the rest of 'em...Wale Nike Boots video.

Yeah, it's been a minute since he dropped this track, but Wale just released a video for his song "Nike Boots." His next mixtape Back To The Feature will be out soon and his debut album is expected out spring of next year. For now, check this video:

Time to hit the road...The Road To Til The Casket Drops.

[Click picture for the download]
A lot of people have been waiting for this day for a hot minute. Today the Clipse released their mixtape Road to Till The Casket Drops in affiliation with Complex to commemorate the launch of their clothing line, Play Cloths. Their next album Till The Casket Drops is currently slated for a March '09 release, so this will have to tide us over til then. I'm a big Clipse fan, and I think they're pretty underrated, so show them some love and check out the mixtape. Also, check out the Play Cloths site here.

Dual Drop: Its Charles Hamilton and A Kid Called Cudi Mixtapes

These are a couple older mixtapes from Charles Hamilton and Kid Cudi that are worth a look.

Click Pic for Download

First is It's Charles Hamilton. This mixtape is filled with some fresh tracks. "Nino del Inferno" is the rule book on how to use "Straight to Hell" by the Clash. "Negative Zero" is a fresh new look at a "hipster rap alt rock love/dont F^%* with me song." lol. We finally get to see a harder side of Hamilton on this one. Then, "Wonder" hits us with that "Dig" (Incubus) sample. Yea you read that right, a rapper samples an Incubus track. "Starchasers" also gets a nod on my favorites list. Dope nod to Nas' Illmatic with that cover.
Here is a bonus track: Hot Like The Blog -Charles Hamilton

Next up is Kid Cudi's A Kid Called Cudi. This tape dropped a while ago with the help of 10 Deep and Plain Pat and is still basically fueling Cudi's career. Regardless, this mixtape is dope. "Cudi Spazzin" is the single that initially gained the most recognition due to its sick hook. I am really digging "Is There Any Love?" feat. Wale/"Embrace The Martian"/ "Maui Wowie"/ "T.G.I.F." (same feel as "Cudi Spazzin"). Download both and you won't be dissapointed. See the full post...

New Lil' Wayne mixtape...

The Drought Is Over Pt. 6 [Click for download]Here it is. Lil' Wayne's The Drought Is Over pt. 6. It seems the general consensus was that Dedication 3 was not up to the usual Weezy standards, so let's hope this one goes over a little better. Only complaint I have is the way The Empire has that dude talk all over their shit..."Holy sh-(yeah, he actually censors himself), where'd you find this?!" Ricky already dropped "Red Magic" on you, now get the whole mixtape. Check the intro for his explanation of the whole Tha Carter III: The Rebirth/Tha Carter IV issue I posted about earlier.

"All about a dollar, fuck two quarters. Bitch I pour syrup in that Vitamin Water."
Wonder who inspired that...

Don't Mess With Beyonce

I know i have posted about this song too many times but one more should suffice. She recently performed "Single Ladies" at the AMA's and she demolished this performance. Pretty cool camera works as well.

Bow Wow x DJ Infamous: Half Man Half Dog Mixtape

Bow Wow has finally jumped into the mixtape game with Half Man Half Dog Vol.1. I have high hopes for this one. A couple of his most recent tracks have been pretty sick. Download some of his most recent stuff HERE. "On My Momma" is pretty ill. I hate to admit it but he puts some fresh rhymes together. Lets see where he goes with this one. I need some def music now that Lil' Wayne is falling off....sorry Wayne but the Dedication was lacking. Lets hope Drought is Over Pt.6 is dope. Ha ha, you know it'll be dope just check the first single "Red Magic".

p.s. Bow Wow please get off Soulja Boi's dick please. The guy is making money but he is so wack!
Props to him for being on Entourage though (one of the best shows out).

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport 2009

Oh yes...it is like that. Bugatti has made a one of a kind version of their monster, the Veyron. They call it the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. This beast was actually sold at this years Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The main modification for this model was the removable roof. That modification makes the Veyron Grand Sport the fastest roadster. Check out the details HERE. Love that color and the day running lights. See the full post...

C’N’C’ CoSTUME NATIONAL Autumn/Winter 2008

C’N’C’ CoSTUME NATIONAL's Autumn/Winter 2008 collection is here and I am really liking the direction. The line is very edgy even though they use very elegant, and in most cases, formal pieces. I would personally roll down the pant legs and get rid of the hobo handwarmers but that's just me. I love the shoes that the second model from the left is wearing and the vest that the model to the right of him is wearing as well. The rest of their line includes beautiful tuxedo jackets, scarves, pinstripe pants, and shirts. Check out the entire collection HERE.

St. Alfred New Eras

Chicago boutique St. Alfred produced some quality New Era caps as part of their Holiday 2008 collection. They made two check New Era caps with only a very small logo embroidery on the side and one black suede New Era cap with red satin lining. All three are now available.

The red satin lining on those black suedes is so hot. Come on RCO, pick these up.
